Clare Berry is the elected member for Hatfield North (division 73) Clare is deputy to Stuart Pile for Highways, Transport & Rural Affairs.
you can contact Clare on 01707 259843. Clare lives in Hatfield Garden Village with her husband and children. She is a former secondary school teacher. Clare was elected to Welwyn Hatfield District Council in November 2003 during a by-election and represents the Hatfield North Ward.
As a Governor of Birchwood School and someone who educates her children at home, Clare has an impressive and comprehensive understanding of education. She also has a keen interest in the Environment. She has been able to develop this interest through her work as a Councillor as Chairman of the Environment Overview Committee, as well as being a member of the Social Overview Committee. I have lived in the Garden Village since I moved to the area and have seen the rapid development of the town. I will take an active role in ensuring that the new Howe Dell School is built, with the support of local parents.
Together with local residents in the Birchwood area of Hatfield I have been working to persuade the County Council to install traffic calming and I will continue to work on this project until the work is done to the residents’ satisfaction.
Parking is becoming an increasing problem in many areas of Hatfield. I would work with Hertfordshire County Council to help ease the parking problems. This may involve providing more car park spaces but whatever the solution it must be in keeping with the area.
Like many local people I am looking forward to the possibilities of the new hospital. I will take an active role in ensuring that the new hospital gets the go ahead and the new shopping centre is completed on the aerospace site, taking into account the needs of the local community and the environment.
