I have lived in East Herts for over 35 years and have been a County Councillor for eight years.

Married, and a retired secondary school teacher, I have also worked in industry in a managerial capacity.

A governor of two local schools and a supporter of local societies my relaxations are gardening, reading and watching cricket. I am president of Much Hadham Cricket Club.
· As a councillor I attend as many parish council meetings as possible to hear and act upon local concerns.

· In my role as Chairman of Herts Rural Forum and a member of East of England Rural forum, I have worked to protect those living and working in East Herts, especially with regard to fly tipping and theft.

· I have always pressed the Police Authority for more police to combat anti-social behaviour and will continue to do so.

· I have supported and lobbied for schemes that protect towns and villages from excessive traffic.

· As vice-chairman of Environment Scrutiny Committee, I brought the GM debate and the Regional Spatial Strategy into the public arena.

· I am totally opposed to a second runway at Stansted and totally reject the housing numbers proposed for East Herts by the Regional Assembly and the erosion of the green belt.

Promoted by Malcolm Alexander on behalf of Mary Bayes, both of 4A Swain's Mill, Crane Mead, Ware, Herts SG12 9PY
