MAXINE CRAWLEY – St. Albans Rural
Hello, I’m Maxine Crawley and I’m delighted to introduce myself to you as the Conservative County Council candidate for St Albans Rural Ward (Redbourn and Wheathampstead).
I’ve lived in Hertfordshire all my life and moved to Redbourn five years ago with my husband and two children. I’m raising my children with the values of village life and as a Councillor I do and always will stand up for our villages. I currently serve on Redbourn Parish Council and St Albans District Council, where I’m Deputy Mayor.
I’m also a Governor at St Luke’s School, for children with moderate learning difficulties, in Redbourn and look forward to building on my interest in the wellbeing of all children by playing an active role in the Children, Schools and Families department at County.
Through survey canvassing and talking to people in Redbourn and Wheathampstead I know that your concerns for our villages, for example viability of the High Street, antisocial behaviour, youth and leisure activities and roads, echo my own. I look forward to representing you at the County Council.
Maximising Activities for Young People
Wheathampstead and Redbourn residents frequently ask me “what is there for young people to do?” and “how can antisocial behaviour be reduced?” I believe that solving the first question will help to address the second one so I’m actively involved in increasing popular youth activities in both villages.
In Wheathampstead I am working closely with Cllr. Annie Brewster on expanding the youth club, holiday activities, hip hop and a proposed all weather sports facility. In Redbourn I argued successfully at the District planning committee for approval for the soon-to-be-built new Parish Centre, including a youth club, and worked with Youth Connexions on setting up our Youth Council.
