Nigel is at present Chairman of The County Council
I am also on the London Luton Airport Advisory Committee [Vice Chairman] and a Governor of Hitchin Boys School. My main message for the moment and unlikely to change is that 'I will fight might and main against any extension of Luton Airport and against all the threatened new houses with which the constituents of my division are facing especially as I am more than aware of the total lack of infrastructure to cope with this likelihood'. It has been an enormous privilege to have represented Hitchin Rural Division on the County for the past 5 years.

Among my activities I have:
· responded to many local problems, especially relating to Education and Highway issues;
· worked tirelessly with all seven Parish Councils and attended almost every meeting, reporting and responding on County Council matters;
· enjoyed numerous successes especially with secondary transfer appeals;
· succeeded in obtaining a very large capital sum for the refurbishment of Breachwood Green Primary School;
· been extremely active on the County Council in a wide range of activities;
· played a prominent role in opposing the further expansion of Luton Airport and now, as Vice Chairman of the London Luton Airport Consultative Committee, I am at the centre of discussions and debates about the Airport’s future;
· taken a strong local stance against the massive house building proposals by the Labour Party to expand in the Hitchin Rural green belt and also the West of Stevenage proposals;
· been fighting the closure of village surgeries;
helped in securing traffic calming measures in several villages; and
· supported the Police and the introduction of Community Police Support Officers.

I do hope you will support me again by voting Conservative on 5th May so that I may carry on my work on your behalf. I pledge to continue working for my local Division and for the best interests of Hertfordshire as a whole.

Thank you for your support – please remember to use your vote

Yours sincerely

Nigel Brook
